The latest CYT success story comes from a CYT San Diego Tri-City Alum, Victoria Pena.

Victoria, 19, is a Sophmore at University of Colorado double majoring in Vocal Performance/Music and Theatre/Musical Theatre. She was recently accepted into Julliard and the Berklee/Boston Conservatory, but has decided to stay in Colorado and transfer at a later date to get her MA and PhD. Support CYT! Join the “30 Year Club”

Christian Youth Theater is celebrating their 30th birthday this year!! The festivities continue as we launch our latest campaign, the “30 Year Club,” at cyt.org/donate.

The “30 Year Club” encourages the CYT Community – CYT Alumni, friends, family, students – to give back. Here’s why:

For the last 30 years, Christian Youth Theater has changed the lives of students by providing leadership opportunities and confidence-building experiences all-the-while honing critical skills for those who plan to compete in the world of professional performing arts. CYT is now asking for your support as they continue to make an impact across the globe.

“In some way, CYT has made a difference in your life and we are asking you to give back. Our hope is that generations to come will be able to experience the CYT you enjoyed,” said Co-Founder Sheryl Russell.

The “30 Year Club,” is a group of people invested in the ongoing outreach of CYT. By joining the “30 Year Club” you are committing to give $30 per month toward providing CYT to kids who need it, planting CYTs in communities that need it, and creating resources and opportunities to perpetuate the CYT revolution! If money is tight, there are options to give an amount of your choice.

There are other ways to donate as well- you can join the College and Career Collaborative, which is an endowment to help CYT alumni further their education and apply their talents, or donate to local Scholarship Funds.

We encourage you to join the “30 Year Club” and help spread the word. If you are on social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Google +) you have the opportunity to share cyt.org/donate with thousands of people!! Share cyt.org/donate on your Facebook today!

CYT Houston Students meet “Jesus Christ Super Star” Actor

Last week CYT Houston students scored an interview with “Jesus Christ Super Star” actor, Ben Vereen!

Yourhoustonnews.com reported that, “After interviewing stage and television star John O’Hurley on June 21, a number of CYT participants were invited back Tuesday to chat with star Ben Vereen.” More than twelve students and their chaperones woke up early Tuesday morning to meet the star. Vereen was in town for the weekend, performing in the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice rock opera “Jesus Christ Super Star.”

Publicist Cindy Goodrich told the media outlet,

“After the kids live interview with Deborah Duncan and Vereen, they filmed a television commercial to promote CYT and its musical theatre classes.”
