The CYT Indy Times published an article in their Spring 2010 issue, “A Student’s Perspective by Jared Updike, Age 18″.
Since CYT Indianapolis became an Affiliate in 2009, Updike has performed as Schroeder in “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” and Tom Mizer in “Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr.”. Here is the CYT Indy Times article: “I first heard about CYT when I went to see my cousins in a CYT production in Chicago. For the next few years I regularly volunteered as an usher and worked backstage every chance I got. When I heard that CYT was coming to Indiana, I was very excited about being able to perform in a show. CYT Indy has had a great influence on my life in numerous ways. In class and at rehearsals, I’ve learned more than I have ever imagined I would. Performing onstage, as well as assisting in the Improv Class has given me a confidence that I had never known before; more important to me, however, are the people I’ve met and friends I’ve made. From the moment I found myself not only several years older but several feet taller than everyone around me, I was afraid I would end up the odd one out with no one to talk to…I couldn’t have been more wrong. Immediately I began to make friends and realized I had stumbled upon the nicest group of kids I had ever met. My friends in CYT mean the world to me and I know I’m building relationships that will last a lifetime. CYT is always the best part of my week!” You can download the CYT Indy Times, at their website. |

We love you too, Jared! You are SUCH a great example to the kids in CYT of all ages! Never grow up!!
We’re CYT parents too and just appreciate the dedication and professionalism that goes into not just their Theater shows but each child as well. The integrity and character building blocks each child learns by being a part of such a wonderful organization is just priceless.
I use to work with the music stars up in Hollywood. But I moved to El Cajon, CA after I married and now have a wonderful step daughter that can’t get enough of the Theater songs. So I decided to start a company that helps kids get their audition music together and to date, we have been blessed to have worked with a lot of amazingly, gifted kids over the past 3 years.
