New CYT SD Area Coordinator for NCI

Kathleen Fischer passes on the CYT SD NCI Area Coordinator position to her successor, Michele Bru. Read her thank you letter here:

Hello CYT Families and Associates,

Serving as the Area Coordinator for NCI has been one of the most profound, life-changing experiences of my life. I have been richly blessed beyond measure in ways I never imagined. My heart is overwhelmed with the memories, friendships and personal growth with which God has rewarded me. Your beloved children have become so precious to me and I cannot even begin to express how very proud I am of each and every one of them. To say I will miss this job would be an understatement, and I have cried more than a few tears as I have prepared to pass on the leadership to my successor, Michele Bru.

It is with the utmost confidence that I am handing the reins of CYT NCI’s 25 year legacy to Michele. She comes to the position with a wealth of personal experience as a past naval officer, mother of four home schooled children, and wonderful organizational and interpersonal skills. I know that CYT NCI and its families will continue to flourish under Michele’s guidance.

I will continue to be a resource to Michele from behind the scenes as the Area Advisor throughout the fall session. All inquiries and communication regarding our fall classes and show should be directed to Michele at cytnci@att.net. I pray that you will each lift up Michele through this transition time with your prayers and support, just as you have done for me these past 3 ½ years.

You will all be forever in our hearts. May God continue to richly bless each of you.

With love and a grateful heart,

Kathleen

Thank You Letter: Bringing CYT To Girl Scouts

Brittany Joslin, who works with SD Girl Scouts, wrote a thank you letter to CYT San Diego this week thanking them for bringing CYT to Girl Scouts. CYT’s The Jungle Book was a SD Girl Scout’s Day Camp during the week of July 19 – 23, 2010, and was offered to girls entering kindergarten through 12th grade. Read Brittany’s letter in its entirety here:

This is my second summer doing Girl Scouts day camps and my second summer working with CYT. I’ve got to tell you, working with your teaching artists is without a doubt THE highlight of my summer! I really mean that. These women are bright, cheerful, fun, spunky, so patient, creative, talented (I could go on and on), and they clearly exude an excitement and a passion for what they do.

It’s such a neat experience from my perspective to see a group of young girls come to camp on a Monday with no experience, little confidence, and a good amount of anxiety, then to watch them on stage a few days later just absolutely glowing with excitement. Tammi, Lisa, and Sarah allowed these girls to accomplish things they probably had no idea they were capable of.

The experiences shared and the confidence that was built within these girls in the span of just five days will stick with each of those girls forever. Such a memory is priceless!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing CYT to Girl Scouts and for being SO AMAZING at what you do! I will never forget the summer of CYT’s The Jungle Book.
