CYT Riverside Presents Peter Pan

phpThumb_generated_thumbnailjpg

Children, as well as the child in all adults, will be delighted to be taken back to Neverland as CYT Riverside presents Peter Pan for an eight-show run at the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Fallbrook High School.

The curtain opens for two shows (2 p.m., 7 p.m.) July 27 and concludes with a 2 p.m. show Aug. 4.

Audiences will be transformed to turn-of-the-century London as Peter Pan — played by Andrew Shroll — enters the Darling nursery and literally flies Wendy (Kieryn Thompson), John (Nathaniel Parsons) and Michael (Duncan Thompson) to the timeless land where children can never grow old. While in Neverland, they meet up with the Lost Boys to face off against the dastardly Captain Hook (Steven Turk) and his pirate crew while also saving Tiger Lilly (Nina Sheridan).

All of the classic songs from the iconic musical will be on full display, including “Never Never Land,” “I Won’t Grow Up” and “I’m Flying.” The show is directed by Jennifer Lloyd with choreography by Blythe Baker and musical direction by Angie Knechtel.

The iconic boy who never grew up was first introduced to the world by JM Barrie in 1901 in the short story, Peter Pan, or the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up. The stage version and subsequent novel came shortly after. Hall of Fame gymnast Cathy Rigby earned a Tony Award nomination for her performance in the title role in 1991 and recently revived her role on a current tour.

CYT Riverside County is a non-profit theater arts training program for students ages 4-18. CYT offers a variety of singing, dancing and performance classes as well as Broadway-style musicals in the fall, winter and summer.

CYT is extremely fortunate to bring this caliber of talent and Broadway experience to San Antonio area students who have a passion for Musical Theater.

The Musical Theater Program at Texas State University is nationally recognized, and the program is led by award-winning Broadway actress/director Kaitlin Hopkins.
