CYT Lafayette’s Sock Hop took place last Saturday, Nov. 6th at Grace Community Church. CYT families, and their family and friends, were invited to dance the night away! Proceeds from the event will help send an Improvathon team(s) to the 2011 CYT Expo.
“Our HYPE Team planned the whole event. They asked local business for donations, choreographed their special dance, decorated the room, and served the food. They did an amazing job! So proud of them,” said Gerald Broussard, Board Chair. “We set a goal this year to offer an improv class this winter to train the kids and help formulate a team. We have 20 kids in the class of which we will pick one or two teams to represent CYT Lafayette in North Idaho.”
The Sock Hop raised over $1,000. There was a $5 entry fee and over 120 people attended. Highlights included a “Hand Jive Competition”, food and root beer floats, and two hundred foot-long hot dogs donated by Sonic.
CYT Lafayette student Kallie Broussard said, “The HYPE team was excited to give back to CYT by giving all the money raised to our improv team traveling to North Idaho!”
