Job Seeker: Jessi Riese

I started out instructing the Children’s Church and Youth Group Drama programs at my churches when I was in High School. But professionally I have mostly worked with grades K-5 teaching Dramatic Arts in several after-school programs. I’m currently booked to work the Summer Camp at Rollins College teaching Circus Arts and Improv Theatre. But in August I am looking for new Instructing opportunities. I also have experience teaching up to middle school ages at Barbizon Modeling, and in addition to that I have Directing experience from several student projects at UCF.

If there is a job for me somewhere with CYT, I would love to be considered. :-)

Thanks!

Job Seeker: Jill Bolstridge

I am writing to inquire about any possible employment opportunities at CYT for the summer of 2011. I would be interested in traveling to any of your multiple sites.

I am a highly skilled Drama teacher and Director with 9 years of experience working with kids on stage from ages 4-22 (pre-K through college). For the past six years, I have served as the co-Artistic Director of The Children’s Theatre Company. My duties there have included teaching, directing, choreographing, script writing and adaptation, curriculum design and development, and staff training and management. While leading the NYC flagship chapter, I was also sent
to do chapter start-ups (CTC has over a dozen chapters across the country) which gave me the delightful experience of living and working in Boston, Los Angeles, Peekskill, and Valley Stream (Long Island).

Starting a chapter entails student recruitment, staff hiring and training, and directing the chapter’s fledgling season – everything from artistic direction to business management – while the new staff shadows me in a program model and specific pedagogy that ensures the future success of the chapter upon my departure. I have also been
responsible for the design and development of the CTC youth intern program, where students ages 15-19 learn theatre skills such as assistant directing, assistant stage management, assistant technical
direction, assistant choreographer, etc. My shows at CTC have been featured on Sesame Street, Reading Rainbow, Live With Regis & Kelly, Good Morning America, and NY1 News, to name a few. We also perform at United Nations Headquarters in Manhattan several times each year (all of our shows focus on social/global/ethical issues). I have taken my CTC students to many, many conferences where they have performed and taken courses. I, of course, have been a presenter at many of these conferences.

I currently work as a full-time Drama Teacher and Director at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, New York. I teach a full course load and direct two shows – one straight play and one musical – each year. My students at CTC and at Poly have gone on to do television, film, and Broadway. I have coached and prepped them for their
auditions many, many times over the years.

In addition to my work as a teacher and director, I also have 5 years of experience as a Program Director and Site Director, managing summer camp and after-school programs for children and youth. For the past three summers, I have been the Site Director for Oasis Children’s Services at the Madison, New Jersey Site. The summer camp program there serves approximately 200 children ages 5-13 throughout the course of the summer and employs a staff of about 40; many of these staff are high school and college students.

I am therefore interested in any opportunities you may have available in the areas of teaching, directing, or management. I am attaching two resumes. One details my experience as a teacher and director and the other, my experience as a Site Director and Program Manager.

Please feel free to contact me at any time. I hope to hear from you soon!

Sincerely,

Jill Bolstridge

Job Seeker: Kristi Mason

My name is Kristi Mason. I am interested in counseling and/or teaching for CYT’s Summer 2011 season.

My first two years of college were spent at Butler Community College and I received an Associate in Musical Theatre. I now attend Lipscomb University as a Musical Theatre major. I have spent many years learning and teaching the love of theatre. I have also directed various ages in a production. From church to school I have encouraged students to grow with acting. While the bulk of my experience is with drama (Musical Theatre, Greek Theatre, comedy, drama) I have also helped in music, directing and dance. During my training as an actor, musician and dancer I have learned many techniques to pass on. I instilled a passion in the students when I gave them voice lessons.

Most important to me in the classroom or the rehearsal room is allowing a student to stretch the creative muscles that most academic settings do not utilize, as they prepare audition or following their dreams. I love seeing a new discovery on stage, a moment of connection and/or interest in something previously foreign to a student skyrocket. As a leader, I create a positive environment, where no answer is incorrect and multiple questions are always encouraged.
